What we do
A drummy tile has come loose from the floor underneath it. Tap it and it sounds hollow. In the Cairns heat and humidity, drummy areas tend to spread, and eventually tiles crack or pop up.
Caught early, many drummy tiles can be fixed with adhesive injection, without lifting the whole floor. Where tiles are too loose or already cracked, we lift and relay them and match the grout as closely as possible.

Common questions
What causes drummy tiles?
Usually poor adhesive coverage when the tiles were laid, movement in the floor, or moisture and temperature changes. Cairns heat and humidity can make it worse over time.
Do drummy tiles need fixing straight away?
Not always, but they tend to spread and can crack or lift. Fixing them early is usually cheaper and less disruptive.
Can you fix them without lifting the tiles?
Often, yes. Adhesive injection can re-bond tiles in place. If a tile is too loose or already cracked, we lift and relay it instead.
Will the repair match my floor?
When we relay your existing tiles, they go back exactly as they were. If any need replacing, we match tiles and grout as closely as possible.
